How to Reach Belgaum
The city is on NH-48 with its own airport and railway station, so there is usually more than one sensible way in — the right one depends on where you are starting.
From the common starting points
| Bengaluru | Overnight bus or train is the usual choice; about 8–9 hours by road, or a short flight to Sambra. |

Times are typical rather than guaranteed and stretch in monsoon or festival traffic.
Choosing a mode
Trains are the most comfortable for the long north–south journeys and drop you close to the centre. State buses win on frequency for anything under 200 km. Flights make sense mainly from Bengaluru, Mumbai and Hyderabad, where they turn a full travel day into a couple of hours.
Arriving in the city
- Railway station: 3–5 km from most hotel areas, autos available outside.
- Central Bus Terminal: central, walkable to budget lodges and eateries.
- Airport: about 10 km out, taxi or pre-booked cab recommended.
If you are driving
NH-48 is a good highway, but the Goa-side ghat stretch is slow in heavy rain and the city centre lanes are narrow and crowded after 6 pm. Park at the hotel and use autos for the bazaar and fort area.
