Transport in Belgaum

The city sits on NH-48 between Bengaluru and Mumbai, with a railway line, an airport and a busy state bus terminal — which is why so many travellers pass through it on the way to Goa.

Belagavi station (SVB)

On the Miraj–Londa–Hubballi line, with direct services towards Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Goa and Hubballi. The station sits close to Tilakwadi and the city centre.

Belagavi Airport (IXG) handles daily domestic flights to metros through regional carriers. Small terminal, quick formalities, taxis available on arrival.

NWKRTC runs frequent services to Hubballi, Bagalkot, Kolhapur, Panaji and Bengaluru, including sleeper and semi-sleeper night buses.

Practical tips

Book night buses to Bengaluru and Mumbai a few days ahead in the festival season.
The ghat stretch towards Goa is slow and foggy during heavy rain — avoid it after dark in July and August.
For early flights out of Sambra, arrange the cab the previous evening; street autos are scarce before dawn.
