Belgaum Weather Through the Year

Sitting around 750 metres on the edge of the Western Ghats gives the city milder summers and wetter monsoons than the plains further east in Karnataka.

Season by season

March to MayWarm days, often in the mid-30s °C, with cooler evenings. Sightseeing works best early morning or after 5 pm.
June to SeptemberThe main monsoon. Long spells of rain, green countryside, waterfalls at their strongest and slippery ghat roads.
October to NovemberRain tapers off, greenery stays, and the light is at its best for photographs.
December to FebruaryThe most comfortable months — dry, pleasant days and genuinely cool nights, occasionally into single digits.

General seasonal patterns, not a forecast. For current conditions and warnings, check the India Meteorological Department.

Best time to visit

November to February for comfortable walking and temple visits; July to September if the waterfalls and the misty ghat drives are the reason you are coming. The two goals rarely fit in one trip, so pick before you book.

What to pack

  • Monsoon: a real rain jacket rather than an umbrella, plus shoes with grip.
  • Winter: a light jacket or shawl for early mornings and bike rides.
  • Summer: a hat, water and a plan built around the cooler hours.

How weather shapes local life

The rains drive the farming calendar in the surrounding taluks and fill the reservoirs that supply the city, so a weak monsoon is felt in produce prices and water supply schedules well into the next year.
